What is Dot?

Imagine looking at a map of the world.  If you could take a pen and pinpoint where you live, it would appear as nothing more than a very small dot.  That is your dot and in your dot you have your own sense of style, act a certain way, and speak an informal form of English called Dot.  Everyone in your dot understands you because they also speak Dot, follow the same styles, and are accepting to the way you behave.

When you move outside of your dot, you need to communicate and connect with others outside of their dots.  This is when we use more formal standards and speak a common  language which we call “Standard English.”

In places where dot is not allowed or understood, you will need to use socially acceptable standards and Standard English to communicate effectively.

School is a Dot Free Zone.  All common areas:  malls, theaters, busses, restaurants, etc. are Dot Free Zones.

The more able you are to drop your Dot when needed, the farther you’ll be able to travel outside of your Dot.

Because we want the world for you, we are asking you to practice dropping your Dot in common areas and use socially acceptable standards as well as Standard English so that you can become a respected member of our larger society and be understood everywhere you go!
